CANAAN EXTENDS UNIVERSITY EDUCATION TO FARMERS’ CHILDREN
In 2007, Canaan launched the Canaan Scholarship Fund. As an investment in future leaders, we provide high school graduates with full scholarships for four-year degrees at Palestinian universities. The Canaan Scholarships Fund is an investment in leadership for the benefit of farming communities. The scholarship covers four years of tuition at Palestinian universities to the children of farmers.
Selection criteria gives attention to leadership potential, commitment to community service, and family economic conditions. The Canaan Scholarship Fund selects qualified students from marginalized rural and refugee communities. Scholarship recipients commit to volunteer for community service programs for the four summers during their college years. Since 2007, 40 scholarships have been awarded.
